Installation Instructions for the Hurricane Shutter Insert Anchor
Hurricane Shutter Insert Anchors can be installed in five simple steps. These anchors are specially made for anchoring and fastening hurricane shutters into concrete, brick, block and wood base material. Hurricane anchors have a flat head profile with self-cutting serrations that easily countersink to seat flush in stucco or other cementitious material. The long version of the hurricane shutter anchor has a nylon locking patch that helps lock the anchor in place. A hurricane shutter insert anchor uses 7/16" ANSI masonry drill bits to install. Step by Step Installation Instructions follow:
| 1. Using a hammer drill, drill a 7/16" diameter hole using an ANSI standard masonry bit |
| 2. Clean out hole of all debris. |
| 3. Insert the 5/16" hex driver into flared end of anchor. |
| 4. Insert the hurricane anchor into the hole, turning the anchor until it seats flush with the base material. The anchor does not have to be set using a power
tool. In most cases, 3 to 4 turns will seat the anchor in the base material. |
| 5. Using a 1/4" –20 bolt, attach the hurricane shutter. |
