Technical Specifications - Hurricane Shutter Insert Anchors
Before installing hurricane shutter insert anchors, certain technical specifications must be considered. Two lengths are available – a long length for use with stucco exteriors and a short length for use directly into a base material of concrete, brick, block, or wood. Use the performance data below to determine the holding values for your base material. Hurricane shutter insert anchors provide outstanding performance and sit flush with no outer voids. Designed to be a permanent installation, these anchors allow for repeated removal of the hurricane shutters without affecting holding values.

*1 Testing was done with pilot hole drilled using corded rotary hammer & 7/16" SDS masonry drill bit.
*2. Testing was done with pilot hole drilled using corded rotary hammer & 7/16" SDS bit. Considerable spalling of block's wall occurred due to significant percussion developed by the rotary hammer drill.
*3. Testing was done with pilot hole drilled using corded hammer drill & 7/16" carbide tipped masonry drill bit (not SDS bit). This procedure resulted in significantly less spalling of block's wall.
Note: These test values were achieved in laboratory conditions. Appropriate safety factors should be applied for design purposes.
