Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
Do I need to have a setting tool and how does the setting tool work?
A: Machine screw anchors have to be preset. This allows the bolt or threaded
rod to be removed and reinserted if needed. The setting tool works by inserting into the anchor as the anchor sits in the concrete. A hammer
is used to strike the setting tool until the lip of the anchor meets the lip of the
setting tool.
Q: Does a setting tool come with the anchors?
A: No, the setting tool needs to be purchased separately.
Q: How many setting tools do I need?
A: The setting tool is a piece of smooth dowel made from steel. It can last
a long time, as long as it does not get broken by misuse.

Q: Can the machine screw anchor be embedded in the base material deeper then
the minimum embedment?
A: Yes, the minimum embedment only refers to the shallowest embedment for
the anchor to achieve a holding value.
Q: What type of internal threads do the machine screw anchors have?
A: UNC for example 1/4 ”-20, 3/8"-16.
Q: How long of bolt do I need with this anchor?
A: Add the thickness of the material you are fastening to the concrete to
the anchor length, plus the thickness of any washer, should give you the
correct bolt length.
