Hilti Kwik Bolt TZ is the brand name used by Hilti, Inc. for its wedge anchors
that are designed to resist static, wind and seismic shear as well as
tension loading applications in uncracked and cracked normal weight
concrete. The Hilti Kwik Bolt TZ or KB-TZ is a mechanical type expansion
anchor that is torque-controlled and is made up of an anchor body,
wedge clip and a nut & washer. The Kwik Bolt TZ is manufactured in
carbon steel that is zinc plated as well as in type 304 and 316
stainless steel. The anchor body of the Kwik Bolt TZ is threaded at one
end and tapered at the other. The wedge clip is fixed to the tapered
part of the anchor body and moves freely around the tapered anchor body.
The Kwik Bolt TZ is installed in a predrilled hole in concrete and is
set by applying torque to the nut. When the nut is turned clockwise, the
anchor is drawn up which moves the wedge clip down the tapered end of
the body. This wedges it between the concrete and the anchor body.
Installation Instructions for the Hilti Kwik Bolt TZ
1. Drill a hole in the concrete using a hammer drill. The
diameter of the hole is the same as the diameter of the anchor being
used. The hole depth must be 1/4" deeper than the depth at which the
KB-TZ will be embedded into the concrete. To insure proper anchor
location, use the fixture as a template.
2. Remove all dust and debris from the hole.
3. Using a hammer, drive the Kwik Bolt TZ into the hole. The
anchor must be driven a minimum of 4 threads below the surface of the
fixture.
4. Using a wrench, tighten the nut to the required installation torque for best results.
If the Hilti Kwik Bolt TZ is the correct anchor for your specific
application, follow the installation steps above to help ensure that
the bolt is installed properly and the job is a success.
