Ultracon - 1/4" x 5" 410 Stainless Steel Flat Phillips Crete-Flex

The Flat Head 410 Stainless Steel Tapcon® 1/4" x 5" (five inches) comes packaged 100 pcs. per box with one correctly sized bit. It can be used in brick, block, CMU, or concrete. Each order is shipped the same day that it is received, and will arrive in 1 to 3 business days.

Applications
The anchor is made from 410 Stainless Steel, and is Silver Climaseal® Coated. This anchor is designed for use in Concrete, Block, and Brick.

Environment
The anchor is designed for use in a Moist environment.

Head Style
The anchor is a Flat Countersunk Phillips head and is designed to prevent the head from protruding above the surface of the item being attached.

Hole Diameter/Bit Diameter
The anchor requires a 7/32" hole to be drilled in the base material (Concrete, Block, and Brick). The hole should be drilled with carbide tipped bit that meets ANSI standards and used in a hammer drill.

Driver Required
A #3 is required for driving the anchor into the base material.

Diameter of Anchor
The diameter of the anchor is 1/4".

Length Anchor
The length of the anchor is 5"

Thread Length
The length of the threads on the anchor is 1-3/4" in length.

Packaging
The anchor is packaged with 100 pieces per box and one (1) correct sized carbide bit.

Minimum Embedment
The minimum anchor embedment into the concrete is 1". Therefore, the anchor must be installed so that a minimum of 1" of the anchor is embedded into the concrete.

Depth of Hole
The depth of the hole that is required for the anchor should be a minimum of 1/2" deeper than the anchor will penetrate the concrete. This will allow space for dust created during the installation process to fall, which will prevent the anchor from bottoming out in the hole before full penetration into the concrete.

Maximum Fixture Thickness
The maximum fixture thickness or the maximum thickness of the material being fastened for a anchor is 4". This will ensure that the minimum embedment of 1" will be met.

Fixture Hole Diameter
The hole in the fixture or material being fastened must be larger than the designated diameter of the anchor. The 1/4" diameter anchor requires the hole in the fixture to be 5/16".

Spacing between Anchors
Each anchor must be spaced a minimum distance of 4" from each other when measured center to center.

Edge Distance
It is very important not to install the anchor any closer than 3" from an unsupported edge of the concrete.

Bolt Length
When a bolt is used in conjunction with the anchor, the length of the bolt needed is determined by considering these factors:

  • Flush With Concrete - when the anchor is set flush with the surface of the concrete, add the thickness of the material being fastened to the thread length of 1-3/4", and then add the space for any washers used.
  • Below Surface of Concrete - add the depth below the surface of the concrete to the thickness of the material being fastened, then add the space for the washer, and, finally, add 1-3/4" for the thread engagement.

Installing a 1/4" x 5" (five inches) 410 Stainless Steel Flat Phillips Crete-Flex
  1. Drill a 7/32" hole into the concrete using a carbide-tipped bit that meets ANSI Standards B212.15.
  2. Drill the hole a 1/2" deeper than the anchor will penetrate the concrete, making sure the minimum embedment requirements of 1" is met.
  3. The hole can be drilled while the fixture is in place. The minimum hole in the fixture for the 1/4" x 5" (five inches) 410 Stainless Steel Flat Phillips Crete-Flex is 5/16".
  4. Clean the hole with a wire brush, vacuum, compressed air, or a blow-out bulb.
  5. Insert the point of the 1/4" x 5" (five inches) 410 Stainless Steel Flat Phillips Crete-Flex into the hole. Make sure that the screw being installed will penetrate the base material a minimum of 1" but no deeper than 1-3/4".
  6. Using a #3 bit tip Phillips bit tip for the anchor , turn the screw clockwise, applying slight pressure until the head of the screw is snug against the material being fastened.
  7. Always use proper personal protective equipment per manufacturer's and OSHA instructions.
