Technical Specifications for Split Drive Anchors

Purchase Split Drive Anchors

There are numerous technical specifications that must be considered when using split drive anchors. Determinations on the overall length and head style of the anchor must be made. This anchor is only available in 1/4" diameter, and should only be used in solid concrete with dead loads only. These anchors are made of high strength, heat-treated carbon steel which is zinc plated. Ideal for use in poor grade or old concrete, the anchor design offers low slip rates and is tamper resistant.

Split Drive Anchor Length:

To determine the length of split drive anchor required, add the thickness of the material to be fastened, plus minimum embedment, plus 1/4". The sum of these three items equals the minimum split drive anchor length.

Split Drive Anchor Spacing:

The forces on an anchor are transferred to the base material in which it is installed. If the anchors are installed too close together, it can cause an interaction of the forces, thus reducing the holding power of the anchor. The expansion anchor industry has established a minimum standard of ten anchor diameters for spacing between anchors and five anchor diameters from any unsupported edge. When vibration or sudden impacts are part of the load conditions, the spacing between anchors should be increased.
