1-1/4" x 9" Hot-Dipped Galvanized U.S. Made ThunderStud Anchor, 5/Box

Applications
The anchor is made from Carbon Steel, and is Hot-Dipped Galvanized and meets the Buy America Act (BAA). This anchor is designed for use in Concrete only, and should never be used in block or brick base material.

Environment
The anchor is designed for use in a Damp environment.

Hole Diameter/Bit Diameter
The anchor requires a 1-1/4" hole to be drilled in the base material (Concrete only). The hole should be drilled with carbide tipped bit that meets ANSI standards and used in a hammer drill.

Diameter of Anchor
The diameter of the anchor is 1-1/4".

Length Anchor
The length of the anchor is 9"

Thread Type
The threads on the anchor are national coarse threads that measures 1-1/4" with 7 threads per inch, commonly referred to as 1-1/4"-7 .

Thread Length
The length of the threads on the anchor is 3-1/4" in length.

Packaging
The anchor is packaged with 5 pieces per box and is packaged with the correct number and diameter of nuts and washers.

Minimum Embedment
The minimum anchor embedment into the concrete is 5-1/2". Therefore, the anchor must be installed so that a minimum of 5-1/2" of the anchor is embedded into the concrete.

Depth of Hole
The depth of the hole that is required for the anchor should be a minimum of 1/2" deeper than the anchor will penetrate the concrete. This will allow space for dust created during the installation process to fall, which will prevent the anchor from bottoming out in the hole before full penetration into the concrete.

Maximum Fixture Thickness
The maximum fixture thickness or the maximum thickness of the material being fastened for a anchor is 2-1/4". This will ensure that the minimum embedment of 5-1/2" will be met.

Fixture Hole Diameter
The hole in the fixture or material being fastened must be larger than the designated diameter of the anchor. The 1-1/4" diameter anchor requires the hole in the fixture to be 1-1/2".

Wrench Size
The size of the wrench required to turn the nut to set the anchor is 1-7/8".

Torque Value
To be set properly in the concrete, the anchor must be torqued to between 400 - 450 ft./lbs.

Spacing between Anchors
Each anchor must be spaced a minimum distance of 12-1/2" from each other when measured center to center.

Edge Distance
It is very important not to install the anchor any closer than 6-1/4" from an unsupported edge of the concrete.

Markings
The anchor is stamped with the letter P on the threaded end to allow inspection of the anchor after installation. The letter "P" designates an overall length of the anchor as between 9" up to, but not including 9-1/2" in length.

1. Drill a 1-1/4" hole into the concrete using a carbide-tipped bit that meets ANSI Standards B212.15.
2. Drill the hole a 1/2" deeper than the anchor will penetrate the concrete, making sure the minimum embedment requirements of 5-1/2" is met.
3. The hole can be drilled while the fixture is in place. The minimum hole in the fixture for the 1-1/4" x 9" (nine inches) Hot-Dipped Galvanized Thunderstud Wedge Anchor is 1-1/2".
4. Clean the hole with a wire brush, vacuum, compressed air, or a blow-out bulb.
5. Put the nut and washer on the 1-1/4" x 9" (nine inches) Hot-Dipped Galvanized Thunderstud Wedge Anchor, making sure the nut is on the last threads; this will protect the threads from damage when the wedge anchor is hammered into the hole and into the concrete.
6. Insert the anchor through the hole in the fixture and into the hole in the base material.
7. This should be a very tight fit. Then use a hammer to complete the installation until the nut and washer are tight against the fixture. It is important that the threads go below the surface of either the base material or the fixture.
8. Turn the nut clockwise on the anchor until finger tight.
9. Using a 1-7/8" wrench, turn the nut 3 to 4 times until snug or until the proper torque value of 400 - 450 ft./lbs. is reached.
10. Always use proper personal protective equipment per manufacturer's and OSHA instructions.
