CONFAST® - 5/8" Lag Shield Anchor Long

The CONFAST® 5/8" Lag Shield Long is used for attaching to masonry material that is soft or weak because it has added length for a more successful application. Packaged in boxes of 25, they are in stock and ready to ship out the same day an order is received. Orders will arrive in 1 to 3 business days.

The anchor is made from Zamac Alloy. This anchor is designed for use in Concrete, Block, and Brick.

The anchor is designed for use in a Wet environment.

Hole Diameter/Bit Diameter
The anchor requires a 7/8" hole to be drilled in the base material (Concrete, Block, and Brick). The hole should be drilled with carbide tipped bit that meets ANSI standards and used in a hammer drill.

Designated Size
The designated size of the anchor refers to the inside diameter 5/8" of the anchor or the diameter of the threaded rod or bolt that can be inserted into it.

The diameter of the anchor is 5/8".

Length Anchor
The length of the anchor is 3-1/2"

Thread Type
The threads on the anchor are internal threads that measures 5/8" with 5 threads per inch, commonly referred to as 5/8"-5 .

The anchor is packaged with 25 pieces per box .

Minimum Embedment
The minimum anchor embedment into the concrete is 3-1/2". Therefore, the anchor must be installed so that a minimum of 3-1/2" of the anchor is embedded into the concrete.

Depth of Hole
The depth of the hole that is required for the anchor should be a minimum of 1/2" deeper than the anchor will penetrate the concrete. This will allow space for dust created during the installation process to fall, which will prevent the anchor from bottoming out in the hole before full penetration into the concrete.

Fixture Hole Diameter
The hole in the fixture or material being fastened must be larger than the designated diameter of the anchor. The 5/8" diameter anchor requires the hole in the fixture to be 1".

Torque Value
The maximum torque that can be applied to the anchor once installed is 30ft./lbs.

Spacing between Anchors
Each anchor must be spaced a minimum distance of 8-3/4" from each other when measured center to center.

Edge Distance
It is very important not to install the anchor any closer than 4-3/8" from an unsupported edge of the concrete.

Installing a 5/8" Lag Shield Anchor Long
  1. Drill a 7/8" hole into the concrete using a carbide-tipped bit that meets ANSI Standards B212.15.
  2. The depth of the hole can be deeper or equal to the minimum embedment depth of 3-1/2" which is equal to the length of the anchor .
  3. Clean the hole with a wire brush, vacuum, compressed air, or a blow-out bulb.
  4. Insert the anchor in the hole with the closed end of the lag shield inserted first.
  5. Place the fixture over the 5/8" Lag Shield Anchor Long, insert a 5/8" diameter lag screw through the fixture and into the 5/8" Lag Shield Anchor Long.
  6. Use a wrench to turn the lag screw clockwise until tight or maximum torque value 30ft./lbs. is reached.
  7. Always use proper personal protective equipment per manufacturer's and OSHA instructions.
