American Wedge Anchor - Choices

Zinc Plated - for use in dry indoor applications
Hot- Dipped Galvanized - for use outdoor in damp applications
303 Stainless Steel - for use in outdoor wet applications
316 Stainless Steel - for use in submerged chemical environments
Applications for the American Wedge Anchor

Not to be used in brick or block; the American Wedge Anchor should only be used in solid concrete
Packaged with correct type, size and number of nuts and washers
Expansion clip permanently attached to anchor body
Every diameter of American Wedge Anchors must be installed to a minimum embedment depth
Minimum spacing between American Wedge Anchors is equal to 10 anchor diameters. For example, a 5/8" American Wedge Anchor must be installed a minimum of 6-1/4" away from each other, center to center.
Edge distance from an unsupported edge of concrete must be a minimum of 5 anchor diameters, i.e. a 7/8" American Wedge Anchor must be a minimum of 4-3/8" away from the unsupported edge.
American Wedge Anchors are for use in dead load applications and should never be used in vibratory or shock loading applications.
Each American Wedge Anchor is stamped with a letter for easy embedment depth verification, once installed.
The American Wedge Anchor must be torqued within a range to assure proper expansion and minimum holding values.
The length of each anchor is an overall length measured from end to end, including the threads.
The proper size wrench must be used to turn the nut that sets the anchor in the concrete.
The hole diameter drilled in the concrete is the same diameter as the anchor being installed. The hole must be drilled using an ANSI standard carbide tipped bit.
When installing the American Wedge Anchor, make sure that 3 or 4 threads are below the surface before turning the nut.
If the American Wedge Anchor will be installed through a hole in the item while the item is in place, then the hole in the item needs to be larger than the designated diameter of the anchor.
Technical Information
The holding values on the charts are a guide to the average ultimate values as were tested by the American Wedge Anchor and are not guaranteed. The concrete fastening industries recommend using a safety factor of 4:1 or 25% of the numbers provided. The technical information page provides the following:
